Halloween in Indian workplaces…
Halloween is increasingly becoming popular in the Indian subcontinent, especially in the past 5 years at the workplaces. Is it just catching up in India or is workplace halloween becoming common in other countries too.
About 5 years ago, in my other company I organized a Halloween party. It was nothing lavish, people had to come to the office dressed up as anything they liked or they could dress up in the office. Most of them chose the latter and started dressing up at the office meeting rooms. As this was my first ever Halloween, I didn’t have any experience organizing nor dressing up in costumes, so I took help from some girls, asked them to bring their make-up kits to the office so that they can help others look scary.
In India, we don’t have a drinking culture, so all we could do was go outside the 20 story building, take pictures, loads of them with everyone staring at us. Although it was uncomfortable, we were almost 60 members and we didn’t care about others.
We also played some treasure hunting games and then went out for a big lunch.
This was taken the night before Halloween, I dyed my hair and went as Kaneki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul. It was one of those days where people did something out of their expertise and bonded well with each other. It was fun, I would love to try that again.

インドの職場でのハロウィン…
インドでは、特にここ5年ほどで、職場でハロウィンの人気が高まっているようです。
インドで流行っているだけなのか、それともほかの国でも職場のハロウィンが一般的になってきているのか…。どちらでしょうか。
5 年ほど前、別の会社でハロウィンパーティーを開催しました。
ぜいたくなものではなく、好きな恰好をしてオフィスに来るか、オフィスで仮装することができました。ほとんどの人が後者を選び、オフィスの会議室で仮装しました。
私にとって初めてのハロウィンでした。
衣装を準備したり、着飾ったりした経験がなかったので、何人かの女の子に助けてもらい、メイク道具をオフィスに持ってきてもらって、ほかの人が怖く見えるように協力しました。
インドには飲酒文化がありません。
だから、20階建てのビルの外に出て写真を撮ることしかできませんでした。
居心地は悪かったですが、メンバーは60人近くいたので、ほかの人のことは気にしませんでした。
その後、宝探しゲームをしてから、ランチを食べに行きました。
この写真はハロウィンの前夜、髪を染めて『東京喰種』の金木研のコスプレをしときのものです。
自分の専門外のことをやって、みんなの絆が深まった一日でした。楽しかったです、またやってみたいです。
