Why aren’t Japanese mangas colored?

Anyone familiar with manga knows that they are not colored. When I first started reading them, I was a little annoyed as every comic book, which was marketed for children, was supposed to be colored. Yet, mangas were an exception because of which I ignored reading them for years at first.

 

But, slowly once I started getting into them, colored or not didn’t really matter anymore. But even today, I still want to uncover the reason behind not coloring. I have come up with a few theories: Is it more cost effective (more colors means more money), or is it time constraint (because mangas are scheduled to be released every week, coloring will take more time).

 

That may not be the reason, as Korean comic books (Manhwas) and Chinese comic books (Manhua) are both colored and are released weekly too. I don’t know if Manhwa and Manhuas are printed in the form of books or are they just printed digitally. Regardless, all of them are really fun to read…

日本の漫画がカラーでないのはなぜ？

漫画を読んだことがある人なら、カラーでないことは知っています。

私は漫画を読み始めたとき、子ども向けに販売されている漫画はすべてカラーなはずなのに…と少しイライラしたものです。

そんな理由で、最初の数年間は漫画を読まずにいました。

でも、だんだん漫画にハマってくると、カラーかどうかはどうでもよくなってきました。
それでも今でも、なぜカラーにしないのかという理由を知りたいと思っています。

そこで、自分自身でいくつかの説を考えてみました。

もしかすると、コストの面で問題なのかもしれません（色数が多いほどお金がかかるため）。
または、時間の問題かもしれません（漫画は毎週発売されるので、カラーリングには時間がかかるかもしれません）。

ただし、それが理由とは限りません。
韓国の漫画（Manhwas）や中国の漫画（Manhua)は週刊で発売されているにも関わらず、カラー付きの漫画もあります。

韓国や中国の漫画が本の形式で印刷されるのか、それともデジタルで印刷されるのかはわかりません。

どちらにしても、すべての漫画は本当に楽しいです。
