Why do people need a vacation, from work or life in general?
I was speaking to a friend of mine who is a frequent traveler. I asked him, why do you travel so much? Do you like it or is it because you’re rich? I was expecting a cliched answer like “yes, I love traveling, it’s my life and all”, but instead he gave me an unexpected reply…
He said, he travels to get away from responsibilities, busy life and work and that he only usually visits 2-3 places all the time…
Do people really want to get away from their life that much? Do they usually visit only some places by making them a safe haven or do they want to explore different places, cultures etc? I asked some of my other friends about this, if they had a safe place to go to and almost everyone did, which was unexpected.
It seemed like exploring new places was no longer interesting. I always thought vacations are always planned with family or friends and the purpose of a vacation is to destress and explore. But, instead the work-life face is changing the meaning of vacation.
I have always wanted to travel around the world, meet new people, experience their culture, learn new things, taste new food, maybe share my experiences with my closest people.
Other than Japan, the other place I want to visit is the UK(The United Kingdom), London to be more specific, which my sister visited last week. She had so much fun that she is planning on visiting again to explore other parts of the country.The UK has probably the best castles in the world. I want to explore them, learn more about them.

人は、なぜ仕事や生活全般から、休暇を必要とするのでしょうか？
頻繁に旅行をする友人と話をしていたときのことです。
私は彼に「なぜあなたはそんなに旅行するのですか？ 好きだから？ それともお金があるから？」と尋ねました。
私は「そうだよ、旅行が大好きだから。それが僕の人生だ」というありきたりな答えを期待していたのですが、彼は予想外の答えをくれました…。
彼は、責任、忙しい生活、仕事から逃れるために旅行に行くのであって、いつも2〜3か所しか行かないのだ…と言うのです。
人はそんなに自分の日常から離れたいと思うものでしょうか？
ふつうは、いくつか作った安全な避難場所だけを訪れるものなのでしょうか…。それともいろいろな場所や文化などを探索したいと思うものなのでしょうか…?
このことについて、私はほかの友人にも「安全な場所があるか」どうか尋ねてみました。
すると、ほとんど全員が「そうだ」と答えたのです。これは予想外でした。
新しい場所を探索することは、もはや面白くなくなったようです。
休暇はいつも家族や友人と一緒に計画するもので、休暇の目的はストレス解消や探索することだと思っていました。
しかし、代わりにワーク・ライフ・フェイスが休暇の意味を変えつつあります。
私はいつも世界中を旅して、新しい人々に会い、その文化を体験し、新しいことを学び、新しい食べ物を味わい、その経験を親しい人と共有したいと思っています。
日本以外で、私が行きたい場所はイギリス（The United Kingdom)、具体的に言えば、妹が先週訪れたロンドンです。彼女はとても楽しかったので、イギリスのほかの地域を探索するため、もう一度イギリスに行くことを計画しています。
イギリスにはおそらく世界一のお城があります。
私はそれらを探求し、それらについてもっと学びたいと思っています。
