コミコンとハロウィンがやってきた！

As you all know it’s Halloween weekend around the world, and Hyderabad is no different. Although we don’t go out trick-and-treating to different houses, instead we dress-up and go to halloween themed parties.

This year it’s a double dhamaka, basically it means we are celebrating Halloween and Comic Con this weekend. It’s a long 3 day event happening from 31st October to 2nd November.

This year’s comic-con will be my first in almost 9 years, and my first halloween in probably 5 years. My wife, being born and brought up in the countryside, has no idea what these events are, and I am looking forward to attending the event with my family.

To be honest, I am glad my wife is somewhat interested in my hobbies. I was always scared how she might react and feel when she gets to know my Otaku side as unlike kids now-a-days, I have been watching animes, reading manga from as early as 2005 (when I was 12 years old). I took her to a couple of Demon Slayer movies in the theater, she enjoyed it a lot, even though she doesn’t understand Japanese and never watched any types of cartoons or anime.

But yes, I really am looking forward to this weekend. I will not be able to attend all three days but I am looking forward to this Sunday. With just a hope she likes it too.

皆さんご存知の通り、世界中でハロウィンの週末を迎えています。ハイデラバードも例外ではありません。私たちはアメリカのように家々を回って「トリック・オア・トリート」をすることはありませんが、その代わりに仮装してハロウィンをテーマにしたパーティーに参加します。

今年は「ダブル・ダマカ（お祭り騒ぎ）」です。つまりハロウィンとコミコンの両方を同じ週末に祝うんです！コミコンは10月31日から11月2日までの3日間にわたる長いイベントです。

今年のコミコンは私にとって約9年ぶり、ハロウィンはおそらく5年ぶりです。田舎で生まれ育った妻は、こういったイベントが馴染みがなく、どんなものなのかまったく知りません。それでも、家族と一緒にイベントに参加できるのを楽しみにしています。

正直なところ、妻が私の趣味に少しでも興味を持ってくれているのは嬉しいです。今の子どもたちとは違って、私は2005年（12歳の頃）からアニメを見たり漫画を読んだりしていたので、彼女が私のオタク的な一面を知ったらどんな反応をするのか、いつも不安でした。「鬼滅の刃」の映画を何本か見るために映画館に一緒に行ったのですが、彼女は日本語が分からず、漫画やアニメもまったく見たことがないにもかかわらず、とても楽しんでくれました。

とにかく、今週末は本当に楽しみです。3日間全部は行けませんが、日曜日のイベントが特に楽しみです。彼女も気に入ってくれるといいなと思っています。
